Change the method’s message name using WebMethodAttribute or change the type’s root element using the XmlRootAttribute."

We have just received the error when we tried to return a type which contains Response behind it.

Like,

We have webmethod, UpdateStatus and we have following signature

Public Function UpdateStatus(….) as UpdateStatusResponse

But it gives us above exception when I try it using URL to access the service. Then after some debugging and googling, I found that, .NET uses internal class that uses UpdateStatusResponse. If I change the name to UpdateStatusResult and error gone Smile

For resolution to this specific error.

You need to install first SQL Server 2005 on blank machine. Install SP3.

Now, goto Binn directory of installation, take both the file mentioned in KB and keep it.

Now, start installation on the machine and when error occurs, dont quit. On dialog of retry, just overwrite both the file on Binn directory and then retry. It works for me.

If you dont have two PC, i think you should install blank SQL Server SP3 and copy the files.

$ is not defined error – jQuery error

with 14 comments

I was working with jQuery for the menu and got the error “$ is not defined”. And after finding it through firebug, it was the bug due to jQuery.js file included after javascript code.

So if you include the jQuery.js file, first before any of the jquery script, this will go away…
